• ABSTRACT
    • As a result of septic and aseptic complications, total hip replacements can fail and consequently have finite life expectancies. One of the most challenging aspects of revision surgery is the management of bone loss. We present a classification that maps the severity of bone loss with a variety of reconstructive options, which include cemented and uncemented fixations. This classification has been used successfully to guide preoperative planning, to help determine intraoperative needs (implants, specialized equipment, and bone grafts), and to help prepare the patient about the postoperative rehabilitation course.
