Biography

Cambize Shahrdar, MD, obtained his undergraduate education at University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida, and obtained his medical degree at the University of Miami School of Medicine. Following that he completed an internship and residency at LSU Health Sciences Center-Shreveport School of Medicine where he served as chief resident in his final year of residency. Upon completion of his residency, Dr. Shahrdar was awarded a one-year fellowship in joint reconstruction at Centinela Hospital in Los Angeles, California, under the direction of Dr. Lawrence Dorr. He followed this with an additional yearlong fellowship in pelvic and acetabular fracture and anterior hip replacement surgery under the mentorship of Dr. Joel Matta at Good Samaritan Hospital in Los Angeles. Dr. Shahrdar is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, and the American College of Surgeons. Returning to Shreveport as a partner in The Orthopaedic Clinic, Dr. Shahrdar introduced the innovative anterior total hip replacement procedure to Northwest Louisiana. As of 2022, he had performed more than 3000 anterior total hip replacements. Throughout his career, Dr. Shahrdar has authored and coauthored numerous scientific papers and participated in presentations at clinical meetings. He teaches orthopaedic residents and other practicing surgeons the anterior approach to hip replacement, as well as the gap balancing technique in knee replacement surgery. He is also the first surgeon at Willis-Knighton Health System to perform robotic knee replacement surgery. In Shreveport he has cared for patients at Willis-Knighton Health System, LSU Health, Overton Brooks VA Medical Center and Shriners Hospital for Children
