A 17-year-old female high school soccer player sustains a non-contact injury to her knee during a scrimmage just prior to her season starting. She is unable to bear weight and reports her knee is very swollen. On examination in your clinic, there is a moderate-sized effusion. She is able to flex the knee to 90° but extension lacks 40°. Further examination reveals a 3B-Lachman, stable posterior drawer test, and no instability with varus or valgus stresses at 30°. When positioned prone, her injured knee externally rotates 15° at 30° of flexion, while her contralateral knee externally rotates 10°. McMurray's testing is positive for pain and clicking over the lateral joint line. Radiographs demonstrate no bony injury. An MRI is obtained and a sequence through the intercondylar notch is shown in Figure A. What is the next best step in management for this patient?
