Course Overview

Join us in New York City for two days of learning and connection, bringing colleagues together from around the world. Sessions will engage content experts and attendees in lively discussion, pre-recorded live surgeries, debates, case presentations, and more.

Hot topics include: the business of medicine, digital medicine–beyond robotics, personalized alignment and patient-specific approaches in customization and joint replacement, tibial bearings, fixation, innovations in prosthetic design and techniques, and addressing complications and revision strategies.

Target Audience

This activity is targeted to orthopaedic surgeons. Physician assistants, physical therapists, physical therapist assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, residents, fellows, and medical students may benefit from attending this activity.

Learning Objectives

Hospital for Special Surgery Continuing Education activities are intended to improve the quality of patient care and safety. At the conclusion of this course, the participant will be able to:

  • Recognize the latest technologic innovations in robotic systems, implants, and data technologies that could be used to enhance procedures and outcomes for patients undergoing hip and knee arthroplasty.

  • Explore new approaches to hip and knee arthroplasty that reduce pain and decrease recovery time, including new technologies.

  • Determine best approach to PJI management taking into consideration timing, microbiology of infection, condition of the joint and the implant and other patient-specific factors.

  • Discuss and implement best practices for primary total and revision total hip and knee replacement, including appropriate surgical techniques, alignment concepts, and design.

  • Describe current evidence-based best practices for the management of trauma and arthroplasty, including periprosthetic hip and knee fractures.

  • Describe and evaluate for incorporation into practice the most up-to-date strategies in complex arthroplasty care to optimize patient outcomes.
