Dr. Eric R. Wagner is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in hand surgery. He completed his undergraduate education at the University of California, Davis, where he majored in biochemistry and molecular biology and lettered for three years in basketball. He earned his medical degree from the University of Chicago, Pritzker School of Medicine in 2011. Dr. Wagner completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, starting in 2011. Following residency, he pursued a Hand and Microvascular Surgery fellowship at the Mayo Clinic and a Shoulder and Elbow Fellowship at Harvard Medical School, which included international training in France. He began his independent practice in 2018 and is currently affiliated with Emory Musculoskeletal Institute in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Wagner has published over 340 peer-reviewed journal articles, delivered more than 950 presentations at national and international meetings, authored over 25 book chapters, and edited three textbooks. He serves as the Shoulder and Elbow Editor for JAAOS, an Associate Editor for JHS GO, and an Associate Editor for Handthology and the ASSH Hand.e. He has received numerous grants and awards for his research, including the 2022 ASES Neer Award in the clinical research category.
