Biography

Dr. Gautam Malhotra is an orthopaedic surgeon in the Department of Orthopaedics at UI Health. Dr. Malhotra specializes in treatment of the upper extremity (from the shoulder to fingertips), including rotator cuff surgery; shoulder replacement; fractures and trauma involving the shoulder, wrist, and hand; and peripheral nerve- and tendon-related issues. His treatment paradigm starts with understanding his patient's needs and demands; educating them about their problem; and then jointly creating an effective, individualized treatment plan. For some patients, this involves conservative measures, such as therapy, injections, and medications, and for others this involves surgery. Dr. Malhotra uses the most advanced surgical techniques, including traditional open surgery, arthroscopy, and microsurgery. He strives to treat all his patients with compassion and respect and help them return to work, sports, and their regular activities as safely and soon as possible.
