Biography

Dr. Steinmann received his B.A. from Columbia University and his M.D. degree from Cornell University. He completed an orthopedic residency and shoulder fellowship at Columbia, and a hand fellowship at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN. Before coming to Mayo Clinic, he was Director of the Upper Extremity Service at National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, MD. He is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery in Orthopedics and Hand Surgery. Dr. Steinmann is very active in presentations on the regional, national, and international levels. In 2008, Dr. Steinmann has participated in numerous continuing medical education courses as course chair, co-chair, faculty, and moderator. He also continues to be very active as a scientific reviewer, editor, and guest editor of various journals throughout the year. Dr. Steinmann holds the position of Professor of Orthopedics at the Mayo Clinic Rochester and is very active on various committees at Mayo Clinic regarding future research focusing on elbow, shoulder, and hand surgery.
