Dr Carter is an orthopedic surgeon with sports medicine fellowship training and board certified. He has been the head team physician for the phoenix suns NBA team for nearly two decades and served as the head of orthopedics at Arizona State University. He deals with all types of sports injuries and concentrates his surgery treatment mainly the in areas of knees and shoulders. He began his medical education at the University of Pittsburgh and completed his orthopedic residency at Ohio State University. He went on the complete 2 sports medicine fellowship under the guidance of presidents of the American Orthopedic Society of Sports Medicine. After completing his training, he moved to Phoenix where he has since resided. In addition to being the head team physician for the phoenix suns and head of orthopedic surgery at ASU, Dr Carter has actively been involved in national orthopedic and sports medicine organizations. Examples include being on the board of directors for the Arthroscopy Association of North America, and delegate of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons Sports Medicine Subcommittee. He is a member of the Herodicus Society which is considered the premier Orthopedic Sports Medicine organization with just over 100 members worldwide. Dr Carter has published numerous articles pertaining to orthopedics and sports medicine and has given presentations worldwide. He is considered a world authority of the treatment of meniscus replacement and articular cartilage, and he has patents for treating these problems.
