Biography
Charles Moon, MD is a board-certified Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He specializes in joint replacement and management of complex trauma and trauma reconstruction including peri-articular fractures and pelvic and acetabular trauma. Dr. Moon is a national leader in the care of poly traumatized patients and in the reconstruction of complex peri-articular trauma. He has an interest and experience in circular frame/fine wire applications in both acute trauma and reconstruction cases. He is also experienced in elbow and shoulder replacement, particularly in trauma applications.
Dr. Moon has varied research interests in trauma including the use of stem cells in non-union treatment. He has published in top journals and routinely presents at national meetings on trauma care and research topics.
Dr. Moon earned his bachelor’s degree in genetics from the University of California, Berkeley. He earned his medical degree from New York Medical College. He completed his internship and residency in orthopaedics at the Los Angeles County-University of Southern California program. He completed a pelvic and acetabular surgical fellowship with Dr. Joel Matta at Good Samaritan Hospital in Los Angeles.
