Introduction
  • Includes
    • medial tibial stress syndrome (MTSS)
      • most common
      • distal and posteromedial tibia
    • anterior tibial stress syndrome (ATSS)
  • Commonly seen in runners without enough shock absorption
    • running on cement
    • improper shoes
 
Presentation
  • Presentation
    • pain decreases with running
      • (this differentiates from exertional compartment syndrome)
    • foot pronation
Imaging
  • Bone scan
    • increased uptake in blood pool phase
Treatment
  • Conservative
    • activity modification
